Introduction :

Though there are many kinds of gongs, they are all round shape and knobbed. Gongs are hollow and domed. The sound is produced by striking the “boss” of the gong with a soft-ended beater. Most Javanese gongs in gamelan are made of bronze, some are made of steel. They are making-phase instruments. Generally speaking, there is a least one to two gongs in a gamelan. In the old ensemble, there are three or more than three gong agengs. According to the sizes, it can be divided into three kinds.

簡介：

雖然鑼有許多不同的種類，但它們的外型基本上都是圓形，並且中央有一處隆起。鑼是空心和圓頂。用包上軟物質的棒子敲打鑼的中央，便會發出聲音。大部份爪哇甘美朗的鑼是用青銅製成的，有些則用鋼製成。在樂團演奏中，它們最主要的作用是用來劃分樂句。一般來說，每個甘美朗樂團中至少會設置一至兩個大的鑼。在舊的樂團體制中，則會設置三個或三個以上的大掛鑼 (gong agengs)。根據鑼面的直徑大小，一般可分為三類。
