Code : TT 73, TT 74, TT 75, TT 76

Introduction :
Kouqin / Kouxian is a Chinese Jew’s Harp (Jaw’s Harp) which is the musical instrument of a minority race, Yizu in China. It is a lamellophone, which is in the category of plucked idiophones.
The jew’s harp is thought to be one of the oldest musical instruments in the world. It consists of a flexible tongue cut out of, or attached to, a small frame usually of bamboo or metal. The tongue is free at one end to allow it to be plucked with a finger or cord. The player holds the frame of the instrument between his teeth and plucks its tongue with his finger. The player’s mouth acts as a resonator. Changing the position of lips, cheeks, teeth, tongue and controlling the breath can make different sounds. The player holds the instrument in his mouth, and the name jew’s harp is generally considered to be a corruption of jaw’s harp. It produces a quiet but appealing sound, and is commonly used as a tool of passing on messages, expressing emotions and in courtship.

Code : TT 72

Introduction :
Nyatiti (Africa Kenya Lyre) is a five to eight-stringed plucked lyre from Kenya. It is a classical instrument played by the Luo people of Western Kenya, typically in Benga music. It is about two to three feet long. The player holds it to his chest while seated on a low stool. Usually it is played together with the oporo, a curved horn.
The nyatiti played by the Luos is mostly 8-stringed. The stool that the player usually sits on is traditionally known as "Orindi". Orindi is a three-legged stool as low as to the shin level of the player. The player sits down and puts down the instrument in front of him. On the toe of the player is a round-iron ring (nut-like) that produces the constant beat as he/she hits the lower bar of the instrument with it. On the same leg is "Gara", a bell that shakes all throughout the playing period. Most players wear a headgear called "Kondo" on the head mostly made from some animal skin. The dancers tie “Owalo” on their waist as they dance to the beautiful tune of nyatiti.

Code : TT 68

Introduction :
Tibet / Nepal Trumpet is a trumpet used during events or rites offered before a statue of Buddha in Tibet temples.
Trumpet is one of the most ancient instruments still played today. It is often difficult to make a distinction between primitive trumpets and horns, for in each case the sound is produced by the vibration of the player’s lips. In general, however, a trumpet is predominantly straight and cylindrical whereas a horn tends to be curved and conical. Primitive trumpets are found in every continent and are usually associated with ritual and magic.

Africa Drum Set (Kenya Animals’ Hair)

Code : TT 62

Introduction :
African drums, with their shells of different shapes and depths, allow not only the playing of complex rhythmic combinations but also the expression of a wide range of nuances and tone colours. In that respect, African drums are the most sophisticated in the world. There are dozens of types and hundreds of varieties of African drums.
In African culture, drums are used in all spheres of everyday life : to regulate the rhythm of labour, as an accompaniment to dancing, and in all kinds of religious and political ceremonies. Africans attribute magical powers to their drums. They believe that these instruments house the sacred spirits of their drummer predecessors.
The making of a drum is a special ritual, and the instruments are often kept in richly decorated containers, not unlike Christian shrines. The drums are often perceived as a symbol of power and authority. This is why African leaders are often accompanied by official drummers on their visits.

Code : TT 57

Introduction :
Zhongruan (or zhong ruan中阮, literally means "medium ruan"), is a Chinese plucked string instrument. Take note that it is different from a “moon guitar”(or Yue Qin月琴), which also has a round sound box, but with shorter neck. The zhongruan has a straight neck with 24 frets on the fingerboard and 4 strings. It is usually played with a plectrum (guitar pick). It can also be played with fingers (index finger and thumb with acrylic nails), which is similar to the way of playing the pipa (琵琶). The zhongruan is a tenor-ranged instrument in the family of ruan (). In ancient China, the ruan was called Qin Pipa (Qin Dynasty Pipa 秦琵琶) or Ruan Xian (阮咸). Now the ruan has expanded to different sizes and the zhongruan is the "medium" one.
