Introduction :
Gophichand is a typical folk musical instrument in Bangalore, India. It is also called “Kamak”. With the left hand up, tightening or releasing the two wooden parts of the instrument can adjust the pitch of tones. And at the same time, use the right hand to bounce off the string to play the instrument. Though being a stringed instrument, gophichand is characterized to be used as rhythm instrument rather than be used to play melody. Bottom of the barrel is covered with animal skin and can be played just like a tambourine.
