Bamboo Xylophone 竹製木琴

Introduction :

Bamboo Xylophone is a xylophone made of bamboo. The scale of this instrument does not apply to the Western musical scale. It is a percussion instrument used for teaching kids.

A xylophone is a set of tuned wood bars beaten with sticks. The bars usually rest in a frame and are arranged in order of pitch. Most xylophones are provided with resonators, either in the form of a cradle-shaped box under the bars, or in the form of a separate gourd for each bar. Xylophones are common in Africa, and also in Southeast Asia where they feature in the Indonesian gamelan orchestra.

Xylophones produce different pitches by having bars of different lengths, thicknesses or densities. The longer, thicker, or denser the bar, the lower the pitch it produces. A bar’s pitch can be raised by paring wood from under the bar.

竹製木琴主要是用竹子製成的。這樂器並不適用於西方音階。它是一種敲擊樂器，作為教導孩子用的樂器教具。

木琴是一套調音的木條，用棒子敲擊演奏。木條通常放置在一個框架上，並依音高順序排列。大多數的木琴設有共鳴箱，以盒形的放置在木條下，或以單獨的葫蘆放置在木條下。木琴在非洲很常見，而在東南亞，它們於印尼甘美朗樂團中相當有特色。

木琴擁有不同長度、厚度或密度的木條，會發出不同的音調。越長、越粗或密度越高的木條，會發出較低的音調。把木條底部削去一部份，可以提高該木條的音調。
